Joe Jacobs
Joe Jacobs is an important contact-person in the prevention of suicide. This elder from Kahnawake had the idea of reviving the Wampum tradition, this traditional belt on which we write a message. Thus, Joe made his wampum belt and wrote the symbolic message in Mohawk language "TEIAKONEKWENHSATSIKHE: TARE", which means "There is too much sugar in our blood".
Joe felt the need to revive the tradition of sending messages to communities.
