Overview Passing On
Passing On

Fichier audio Narration (passing_on.mp3, 528 KB)

For ages, we have communicated through sound and image. Today, native people use modern communication tools to enrich the material and spiritual heritage of First nations, while also educating the native and non-native public.

Filmmakers are concerned with authenticity in their documentary or fiction works. Whether it is to entertain, tell a story or to depict First nations' cultures, they show courage and originality. The eye of the camera and the ear of the microphone, guided by the filmmaker's vision, reveal often unsuspectable points of view that make us think deeply.

Native cinema is daring and booming. It is both a quest of origins and a reply to Eurocentric culture that confined native cultures in a rag-bag of stereotypes for too long.
