Modernity reaches all ages. First Nations' elders also face this reality. Already, we open new elderly homes in native communities as it is needed.

Although the body ages, the mind, this unchanged attribute, still remains lucid and curious even if we are a hundred years old. There is a popular saying stating that elders are the living library of native people, and when one elder dies, a whole specific knowledge disappears with him.

It is also said that memory can fade gradually with no stimulation or security. And yet, elders are as eager for novelty and excitement as their grandchildren. They wish to be solicited to share precious life moments with their families. Even if surrounded by "modern" comfort and care, they will always age better with the love, the attention and the respect of their relatives.
